Striving for a Community Development Focused on Creating and Promoting Culture and Arts
The city of Nishi Tokyo, adjacent to Nerima Ward and Musashino City, has gradually increased its population to reach a population of 200,000, evolving into a city with a suburban-style urban society. While many citizens come from various regions, the sense of hometown pride is not deeply rooted. However, citizen-participatory events have been expanding year by year, contributing to the revitalization of the community.
In daily life, there are exhibitions such as painting and photography exhibitions, along with active participation in various handicraft-related circles. It is necessary to promote and further develop the unique cultural and artistic activities of Nishi Tokyo, utilizing the human resources of traditional and daily life cultures. When this is realized, it is expected to play a significant role as a cultural activity base and contribute greatly to the revitalization of cultural activities not only for our citizens but also for neighboring cities.
With the current population reaching 200,000, there is a need to further develop and expand these activities. As the civic hall (which closed at the end of March 2019) has long been utilized by citizens, efforts are underway to construct a large hall with a capacity of 1,500 people as a replacement facility, garnering broad support from the citizens.
The circle of citizens' cultural activities extends beyond arts and culture, touching every aspect of civic life. We aim to create a town filled with the scent of culture and arts by each enjoying a cultural and artistic environment and promoting independent and proactive creative activities. Furthermore, we aspire to be a city that creates and disseminates culture and arts.
Our organization has been operating as a voluntary group for about 10 years, and in April 2018, we expanded our activities as a general incorporated association, striving to further promote cultural and artistic activities while strengthening our activity base and serving more citizens.
