(Arun teacher taking about her Grand daughter) She is happy to work here and live in Pattalung. Sometime we are participating in the exhibition in Bangkok but sahe says, if possible, she wants to stay in Pattalung, because she loves this place and workmate.

Yes, These wicker handicraft is our legacy for next generation. It was like me received this know how from Queen Sirikit in Rama 9th King.

I promised to her that will transfer knowledge and keep this job to whole of my life. Because I received this legacy from Her Majesty of the King.
And I will succeed this job to the next generation or anyone who wants to have this knowledge. I am very welcomed to open my experience and techniques to all of those who are interested in learning it.

The life is one time and all living things will pass away someday, so I will keep making the bags until the day I close my life.

These are community’s products. Almost of our villager are working on Krajood. And no one no Krajood in this village. It is our occupation. It is not our additional career, but it is our main career and inpayable job.
Krajood bag business had made a lot of income to our village.

We are weaving the mat sheet and sell it about THB20 to 30. The income of sales 2 mat sheet a day was about THB50 to 60, which ‘was’ good enough in the past, and we could continue to work on these. Because the living cost in the past was not so high as present.

Now the living cost is rising and struggling in life sometimes. We have to develop the design of product, like mat set, hat, place mat and running table. Then after,The Queen Sirikit in Rama 9th King went to “Hua Pa Keaw” I went there to meet Her Majesty and offered some products of Krajood.

Somebody asked why I am so brave to meet Her Majesty? I just think Her Majesty has been so kind to help her peoples. Her Majesty asked me if I wanted to be a member of Her Majesty? If I want I have to be there to study more knowledge. I do not hesitate. I was committed to Her Majesty. It was 1999, 25 years ago and that’s the starting point of my professional artisan.

I was studying the more knowledge and skill, and meantime, became a lecturer of the local knowledge-center of Pattalung. I opened these knowledge to all good minded students. Until now every house had knowledge of Krajood weaving skill. All the family began to develop Krajood bag at that time.

I was the first teacher in Pattalung to populize the technique of this skill. Even “Varni Crafts” that is other company of Krajood bag also entered the local-knowledge-center and the students were graduated from my 90 hours program successfully.

I am her teacher and I’m proud of Varni Crafts, because now her children graduated from design shcool to continue the business.
Theie technique and quality seem better than me now that they have been grown up, and it’s my pride to nurture the next generation.
